I'd be looking at even simple Slippery Elm bark POWDER mixed with a bit of honey to make a paste and either eaten off the spoon as is or smeared on toast (or whatever). Making this part of your every day could really make a difference. It not only soothes and moistens your intestines/colon, but REBUILDS the entire mucous lining, making it stronger and more effective. My concern with any stimulant/irritant/'power washing' is the toll they take on that precious lining that PROTECTS you from all the yucks hopefully moving THROUGH. There's REALLY no sense in doing a DranoDetox if your pipes are leaking.
There are lots of reasons for constipation - lack of moisture, lack of fiber, lack of peristalsis. One funny little trick my sister taught me YEARS ago is called "Little Suzie Goes Skating" which involved nothing more than 'skating' two fingers around and around your abdomen, first a couple of times in ONE direction and then the other. This helps to ever so gently re-establish the normal WAVES of movement, and as you can see from the name, it's great for children to help them move both bowels or intestinal gas ALONG.
If you feel you need stronger help for awhile, employing these strengthening techniques can help your own body to take over sooner. Anything that Does It For You holds the possibility of being habit-forming. If you were to freshly GRIND flax seeds and add them to the Slippery Elm powder, you would get even more fiber-help while also getting all the nourishment. Whole flax seeds are practically useless. - they just pass through you unless they're soaked in water long enough to make a yuckygoo which is none too palatable. Be sure to drink a glass of water with the Slippery Elm. Mixing Slippery Elm WITH water gives you something akin to rubber cement, so it's FAR easier to deal with mixed with honey or applesauce or thrown into oatmeal.
